“Your goal is to create the least possible stress on your body that produces the maximum physiological benefits, not maximum stress to accomplish the same benefits,” says Jack Daniels, Ph.D., head coach with The Run S.M.A.R.T. Project.

A consummate research scientist, Daniels’ training style is both precise and personal. “I approach run training from a scientific point of view,” he says. “However, I also use lots of information I have gained from doing research with many elite runners [by] getting to know them personally and finding what works best for different people. We are not all the same.”

“Using Dr. Daniels’ running formulas, the coaches are able to calculate the appropriate training paces to the second for various workouts necessary to keep clients on track to reach their goal. This means no burning out. Avoiding over-training is the key to success in a five-month training block.”

“Legendary distance coach, Jack Daniels, talks about coaching opportunities available through Runsmartproject.com.”

“There’s nothing you can do at this point to improve your fitness in time for the race. At this stage, you can only hurt yourself by doing too much,” said Brian Rosetti, an Upper West Sider who founded of The Run SMART Project, a coaching service for runners.

“The Run SMART Project has launched Run SMART Kids, a youth running program for 4th, 5th and 6th graders of all athletic levels.”

“Finding Her Way One Step At A Time, Alicia Shay Returns To Running”

“Should I get new running shoes for the marathon and if so, when?”

“America’s greatest running coach isn’t ready to retire. Dr. Jack Daniels joins The Run SMART Project”

“People are afraid of the track because they worry it hurts to run hard,” says Vincent Sherry, a Flagstaff, Arizona- based coach for The Run SMART Project, an online coaching service.”

“Do two sets of these moves twice a week [once on a rest day] to train your supporting muscles, reduce the risk of injury, and up performance, says coach Blake Boldon of the online training group The Run S.M.A.R.T. Project.”

“Brian Rosetti, founder and head coach of The Run SMART Project, says yoga can be the perfect complement for runners that are either in a slump or looking to boost their workout.”
